Aftercare:
Looking after your tattoo is very important! Implementing a good after-care routine will make sure your tattoo heals nicely.

When it comes to wrapping up your new tattoo I will offer Second-skin or clingfilm.
I’d recommend wearing this for a minimum of 8 hours and maximum 24 hours. I’d recommend waiting until you wake up the next day to remove any covering so that any of the plasma/ink/blood build up doesn't transfer anywhere (I.e onto your bedding).

With washed hands, remove the plastic film and gently wash the tattoo with a fragrance-free soap and water. Gently pat dry with a paper towel and let the tattoo air dry.
Following this, apply a thin layer of your chosen after care balm. For the next two weeks I’d recommend applying your aftercare cream 3-4 times a day for the next 2 weeks.
Should I re-cover my tattoo?

You do not need to recover your tattoo with plastic film. However if you know you will be exposed to bacteria/dirt. I’d recommend wearing a piece of clothing that covers the tattoo.
The next 2-4 weeks:
After a few days. Your tattoo will likely form a thin layer ontop (or scab). By keeping up with your aftercare balm, this should prevent scabbing. However, sometimes you will have scabbing - this is a normal reaction and if you do get scabbing, do not pick this off! please leave this alone and it will heal in its own time.

Can I exercise after a new tattoo?
You can still work out with your new tattoo. However there are some elements you will need to consider/ or alter.
-
Avoid training the muscles where you tattoo is (for example if you’ve just got a bicep tattoo, then skip to legs day for a bit). This is because the tattoo is still healing under your skins surface layer. muscle tension in these areas can hurt the healing process.
-
Be mindful of the cleanliness of gyms! bacteria from sweaty people is a no-go!

Do’s and Don’ts:
-
Avoid direct sun exposure for a minimum 2 weeks,
-
Do not submerge your tattoo in water. This includes swimming and bathing.
-
Do not use suncream on the tattoo until it is healed.
-
Avoid using perfume and perfumed soap on the area during healing.
-
Change to clean bedsheets for the night after you tattoo.
-
Wear loose fitting clothes on the tattooed area so that the tattoo isn't going to be suffocated or irritated.
-
Pets should not stay on the bed with you at least for the first week after your tattoo.
-
Be mindful of the activities you're doing after your tattoo. Some activites like camping, going to the beach will expose your tattoo to dirt, sand and bacteria.
-
Do not let your new tattoo stay wet for long periods of time (un-sterile water is where bacteria thrives)

Just remember a tattoo is a fresh wound! Take time to heal and relax. Some body parts like legs, ankles and feet may take longer to heal.
Listen to your body! if anything doesnt look or feel right, contact me or your doctor.
Remember, the skin heals by itself! If the skin feels tight or dry apply a thin amount of your tattoo balm on to it.
